Manish Malhotra celebrates Middle-Eastern mystique with his couture show in Mumbai

From a star-studded runway to avant-garde ensembles, designer Manish Malhotra’s couture show was a must watch.

In Mumbai on Wednesday, master couturier Manish Malhotra presented a spectacular couture show ‘Zween’ supported by Sunil Sethi Design Alliance held at JW Marriott Juhu, with Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan as showstoppers. An ode to Middle-Eastern mystique, Malhotra’s show was extravagant and spelled grandeur as this year is a special milestone for him as his label commemorates 13 years. “My new collection, ‘Zween’, highlights the beauty and splendour of the Middle East— a culture that I have long been fascinated with. I have sought inspiration from the region’s stunning mystical elements, albeit in a new, contemporary light with trend-setting styles for millennials across the globe,” says Manish Malhotra.

The collection saw voluminous lehengas with ruffled bouffant blouses, kaftans with cigarette pants, saris with off-shoulder blouses, and embellished gowns with cinched waists, faux feather purses and pill box clutches for women and structured sherwanis contrasted with printed kurtas, paired with flared formal trousers, western jackets with Oriental-style, old-school flair with satin lapels in luxurious fabrics of velvet, satin and silk for men. Except for the well-tailored and mesmerising ensembles, the event was a star-studded affair as Bollywood bigwigs such as Manushi Chhillar, Khushi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Iulia Vântur, Janhvi Kapoor, Sangeeta Bijlani, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Ishaan Khattar, Daisy Shah, Athiya Shetty, Sophie Choudry walked the runway while Karan Tacker, Mouni Roy, Shabana Azmi, Bhumi Pednekar amongst others were seen enjoying the show.
