Designer Manish Malhotra’s show at Jaipur showed ethnic wear with a modern twist. Every bride-to-be wants to achieve that perfect balance of classic and contemporary look on her big day.

While traditional design is preferred, brides also ensure that the cuts are structured and streamlined to suit their body type. Hip-hugging lehengas with a backless choli are also in high demand.

Keeping this in mind, designer Manish Malhotra unveiled his latest festive collection in Jaipur on December 2. The collection featured Indian contemporary evening wear that are perfect for modern brides.

Manish MalhotraHosted by Vrinda Agrawal of Miraangi — Jaipur’s new couture destination — the high glam evening showcased silhouettes that were long and flowy with modern cuts, plunging necklines and short fitting cholis.

From long flowing anarkalis with opulent borders paired with churidars to net saris and lehengas with heavily embellished borders, the designs presented a delightful blend of the old and the new.

Malhotra says, “The collection is an amalgamation of jewel tones and festive colours in rich fabrics like silks, brocades and velvets.”

The collection was a delightful melange of striking colour contrasts such as bright orange paired with ink blue, purple with magenta and blue with purple. While fabrics spelled festivity and opulence, the colour palette was also equally rich.

“Winter is the perfect time to indulge in celebrations and festive mood, and the collection reflects that joyous mood. I have used modern day chikankari and Kashmiri craft embroidery along with rich hues that suit the festive season,” said Malhotra.

The collection will be available at Miraangi.
