Admission seekers in Delhi University (DU) can give serious competition to well known style divas. As form filling season in DU started, prospective students are coming to colleges to buy forms looking stylish and confident. “I have been preparing for this day ever since I got my board results. Nowadays, I’m shopping almost everyday. I want to be the best dressed girl in my college,” says Kirti Malhotra, a prospective DU student. Girls dressed in shorts, hot pants, tube dresses, Osho chappals is a common sight at the campus.
For some it’s a liberating affair from the strict rules which are followed in schools. “I plan to apply different colours of nail paint every day to college,” says Rishika Singh another DU aspirant.
To cater to the fashion conscious brigade markets like; Sarojini Nagar, GK 1 - M Block, Janpath and others are loaded with trendy Tees, shorts, skirts and accessories of the trendiest kind.
New admissions in the college is not only students dream come true period, when they can flaunt the spunkiest of outfits, but shopkeepers too, make the best of business out of it. “This is the time when we do maximum business,” said Mahesh a shopkeeper in Janpath who sells Tees at Rs 95 per piece.
When it comes to youngsters’ favourites, “Hot pants and check shirts rule the roost. Big earrings are an all time pick,” adds Mahesh. It’s a matter of few days when the first cut-off list will be put up, till that time it’s all about who makes the eye balls rolling.
