After a series of disastrous appearances, will actor Imran Khan’s bride-to-be, Avatika Malik, get it right on the fashion front at her wedding tonight? On their engagement last year, Malik wore a blue one-shoulder velvet gown, designed by Varun Bahl. The outfit seemed too ornate for her petite frame. The fashion police never forgave her for that. Aghast at her choice of the outfit, fashion blog

commented, “Okay, so the velvet top was bit of a disaster but we’ll go easy considering it was her big day.”

This time around, designers Manish Malhotra and Shantanu-Nikhil have designed lehengas for Malik’s wedding functions. Malhotra has created two designs for the bride — one is an off-white chanderi net lehenga while the other is a red net

work. It has a hot pink velvet border and has an emerald finish to match her jewellery. The blouse is in pink antique brocade with dull gold embellishments. The red lehenga, on the other hand, has a lot of flare. She will drape a red net dupatta that has small antique and copper butis.”

Designer Nikhil Mehra says, “We haven’t used any embellishments because she is a contemporary bride. All the drapes and cowls are done by hand in heavy satin. The waist is clinched to accentuate her look. We have given her an open shoulder.” All eyes are set on the bride-to-be. Stylist Ranjunee Chakma says, “She has a good lineup of designers for her wedding, so we can only hope that she gets it right. There is little chance that she can go wrong this time.”
