Fashion was the core of the Sex and the City series on television and the glamour quotient only seems to be increasing with each movie. SATC 2, which will hit the theatres this Friday, has women world over waiting to see what trends Carrie Bradshaw and her gal pals are setting this time around.

Fashion brand Only, part of fashion company Bestseller, has launched official SATC merchandise along with a section of dresses inspired by the styles in the movie. “We have two licensed T-shirts — I love Sex and the City and I am a Carrie. But we also have beautiful dresses that have been inspired from the movie, so we totally ‘Carrie on’ the legacy of fashion that is associated with SATC,” says Vineet Gautam, country head, Bestseller Retail India of Only.

Remind Gautam that Bollywood trends are widely followed in India, as opposed to Hollywood fashion, and he says that things are changing now. “Indians are smart audiences who are well-informed fashionistas. Sex and the City has always captivated the Indian audiences, even from the days when it was just a television series. SATC today is synonymous with girlish fun, flamboyance and fashion, which is why I think customers in India have always wanted to wear the gorgeous clothes the SATC characters wear,” defends Gautam.

For those who are not ardent followers, Carrie Bradshaw played by Sarah Jessica Parker, has a wardrobe that is chic. Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, on the other hand, has a vibrant and flirty look. Her clothes always have that tease factor. “Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) is my personal favourite. She has a style that is feminine, elegant and charming. And Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) is a corporate woman who believes in clothes that are sophisticated and have a clean cut to them,” explains Gautam, asserting that the four characters, when combined, have a style lesson to give to every type of fashionista.

Of the inspired collection available at Only, Gautam expects the Daci ex bow dress and the popcorn dress to appeal to the Indian fashionista. “SATC 2 is double the glamour. The Daci ex bow dress is very cute and has an oomph factor to it. Any girl who chooses to wear this dress can be rest assured that all eyes will be on her. The popcorn dress has a very naughty look about it and will give you the glam quotient you need when you decide to go out for a dinner date with Italian food and white wine on the table,” says Gautam.

The I love Sex and The City T-shirt is available at Rs 1695, the I am Carrie T-shirt is available at Rs 1495. The price range of the inspired collection ranges from Rs 1495 to Rs 2695. At: Only, Palladium, Lower Parel and R City Mall, Ghatkopar.
