The list sounds like a Page 3 party — Fleur Xavier, Ujjwala Raut, Farrokh Chothia, Tarun Khiwal, Milind Soman — but there is more than that. It’s almost as if you’re spending quality time with them while looking at their photographs. With designer Suneet Varma completing two decades in the fashion industry, he’s decided that it’s time to revisit the past.
A four-day photo exhibition of Varma’s creations will be showcased at DLF Emporio mall from Sunday, September 6 to Wednesday, September 9. Titled Eye of the Beholder, the exhibition brings together talented fashion photographers such as Prabuddha Das Gupta, Ashok Salian, Farrokh Chothia, Tarun Khiwal, Bharat Sikka, Hemant Khandelwal and Vibhash Tiwari contributing to the lush and edgy photographs of models from the last two decades. An exhibit of 34 photographs, some with top models like Madhu Sapre and Mehr Jessia, this is a display straight from Varma’s personal collection of over 1000 photographs.
The exhibition, which turns high fashion into art, has a number of thought-provoking images, showcasing how fashion has evolved over the last twenty years. Varma, who has worked with some of the more iconic models and photographers, has used a special printing technique from the Thomson Press (India) Ltd, in order to create a timeless yet commentative display. Perhaps this is why they say that a picture is worth a thousand words.
