Accessories were all about pretty floral and decorative motifs a few years ago, but it’s quirky and out-of-the-box designs that have become a craze in the fashion world. Who could’ve thought that something as simple as the moustache could one day become a fashion icon and sell as earrings and pendants? Popularised by hindi film dacoits and zamindars, the moustache has not only taken over jewellery racks but is also a hot favorite on fabric, with moustache print shirts, tops and scarves flooding the market.

NecklaceSynonymous with wisdom (and ironically even stupidity), the owl (or ullu) is also a popular fashion choice. Be it pendants, rings, earrings or even charms, this wise creature is making its way to our accessory box.

Other out-of-the-ordinary accessories include jewellery in the shape of a kitten, a skull, a pair of spectacles, cameras, lipsticks and even eatables such as biscuits and cupcakes. So, girls, stock up these latest statement pieces and rock your quirky side.

Pair the pieces right
Unless you’re Lady Gaga, quirky will not work for you on a formal occasion. So steer clear of teaming up your formal suits and evening gowns with such wacky accessories. And as pretty and bright as they are, you may not want to wear them with your traditional suits and sarees either. Best suited with casual dresses, jeans and cool graphic tees, sport these funky charms to a casual party, a day out with friends or to college.
