Designer Sabyasachi’s fans have reason to rejoice. The designer — who has the distinction of being the first Indian fashion designer ever to be invited to showcase at the Milan Fashion Week — will showcase his collection at the upcoming FDCI Couture Week, to be held at the Grand Hotel from July 15 to 18 in Delhi.

“I’ve been wanting to showcase at the Couture Week for the past two-three years, but there were always prior commitments. The Week usually starts in September-October, which is when I’m working on designing for films. This year, fortunately, the timing was convenient,” says the designer, who’ll show at a fashion extravaganza in the capital after five years.

“I want to do a collection with an organic fabric from Murshidabad in Bengal. Right now, I’m in Paris for Raavan’s premiere. I’ll start work on the collection when I’m back,” he informs. The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), is elated about getting the ace designer on board. “It’s great to have Sabya participate in the Couture Week, under FDCI’s common platform ,” says FDCI president Sunil Sethi.
