Sherlyn Chopra is the antithesis of what you’d expect of a model-actor. She hates being dolled up and wearing heels. Instead, she prefers tank tops and distressed jeans.
Sherlyn Chopra is getting ready for the shoot as we reach her new Juhu apartment. It’s swanky and spacious, without excess furniture. While Chopra is busy with her make-up, we befriend her canine friends — Cherry, DooDoo and Bobby. A congenial host, Chopra offers us tea and snacks, and proceeds to give us a walk-through of her closet.
Wardrobe staples: “I cannot do without distressed jeans, black and white tank tops and leather jackets.”
Big no-no: “I love black, and absolutely hate neon colours. You will not find me wearing any neon or fluorescent shade, except when I am required to wear them for photo shoots. Another thing I avoid is wearing a lot of make-up. I hate being heavily dolled up.”
Favourite haunts: “I love shopping at BeBe on Linking Road, Bandra. I often shop at Zara, Forever 21 and FCUK. I love to shop from small boutiques and stores in New York and UK. Someday, I want to own a pair of jeans from Topshop in Sheffield, UK.”
Style icons: “I love Rihanna’s style statement. She can pull off outrageous attire and not make it look out of place. I also look to Kangana Ranaut for inspiration.”
No-heel policy: “I love sneakers and boots. I wear heels only when required. For me, style and fashion is all about comfort. So, I try to keep it simple.”
Five-minute ready: “If I was given five minutes to get ready, I would wear the first thing in my closet. However, I would definitely run a make-up check.”
Mum’s the word: “My mum had gifted me a top with a picture of a princess. It’s been with me for a few years now. However, it was long, and nobody wears long tops anymore. So, I chopped it to make it a crop top. I cannot bring myself to dispose of it.”
