Got a polo match coming up or a Christmas brunch? But while you fret about the right dress and the shoes, don’t forget the make-up you’ll wear on the sunny winter morning.
“For morning parties the make-up needs to be minimal, in tune with your attire and skin tone. Applying a pre-base is a must to hydrate dry skin,” says Simmi Ghai, makeup expert, Xpressions. “Those with greasy skin must also use a pre-base to helps mattify excess oil and not let the makeup look patchy. The sunscreen, with SPF 30 at least, is important in the dry Delhi winter.”
Beauty expert Blossom Kochar suggests, “Dark-skinned girls can go for bright colours like pinks and mauves for a day event. They never look too gaudy. Those with a light skin tone must stick to earthy and light colours.” In winters, dark shades work well on the lips, but for a brunch get-together, tone it down. You can apply light pink and beige colours and a gloss. “Apply the lipstick with a lip brush and remember to use the same to outline your lips. The dark lip liners look very flashy and artificial,” adds Ghai.
For the eyes, Kochar says, “Use a light liner or kajal for emphasis, but the mascara is an essential. A brown or royal blue tone depending on the attire can be applied but the lightest shade of eye shadow should accompany this.”
Blossom also recommends the use of a creamy base blush instead of a powder one as “it looks fake”. “If your lip makeup is light, you can go slightly heavy on the eyes. Top it with a single coat of transparent mascara or kajal,” adds Ghai.
