Most people today endeavour to understand the real meaning of the word ‘spiritual’ and, like me, most wonder, "I am religious, but am I spiritual?" What is spirituality?
My belief has always been that to be good, loyal and honest is to be spiritual. The secret, I think, is to concentrate on increasing this goodness, loyalty and honesty in ones own life and not to ponder on what everybody else’s beliefs are. This, I believe should spill over into one’s professional life as well. Improve your quality of life in ways you think best, don’t bother about the current trend, go with what you believe is best for you. Being loyal to ones self is a good start. I am always amazed at people who are more bothered about what everyone else is doing!
Speak to your conscience, give yourself a reality check, be true to your friends and family — these are the most important aspects in life. Loyalty plays an integral part of my life and then there is my work —I need to stay true to what I believe in. I believe in colours, design and films. I love Indian cinema, I always have and I always will. I cannot ever imagine doing anything other than what I do now. I love my work,
I concentrate on what I am doing. Being true to myself and doing what makes me happy, that’s what I call spirituality. Then again, I still don’ t know if I am ‘spiritual’. Well... wondering about that I guess is a form of spirituality in itself... I guess!!
