Top five trends that emerged from the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week.

Brighter outings:

When Sabyasachi used solid bright colours this time, every one was surprised… along came several others. Masaba, Atsu and Harangad Singh too employed vibrant hues.

Stripes and Geometry:

This time it was interesting to see the way Kallol Dutta used stripes in various formats. Same was seen on Masaba. Designer Abhishek Byas too used geometry.

Serene Whites:

Anamika Khanna’s show had some exquisitely crafted Indo-westerns while Debarun Mukherjee presented a stunning Indian line in crème and gold. Pallavi Mohan presented a pretty girlie line, mainly in whites.

Less is More:

Many designers employed strategic placing on embroidery or stayed away from detailing, as seen in shows by most designers including Vaishali S, Shivan Narresh, Harangad Singh, Chaitanya Rao, Myoho and Jatin Varma.

Leaner Men:

This time, all designers who made men’s suits, chose to make them look lean and mean. Amalraj Sengupta, Sanjay Hingu, Abdul Haider and Rocky S, who showed men’s suits and Manish Malhotra, who did some traditional menswear, kept the silhouettes close to the frame with a tapered look such a slim-fit trousers.
