Highlight Story

Bright red lipstick and shimmery eye shadow works beautifully for a party or a date, but the same cannot and should not be replicated for office. The professional environment requires a subtle and serious look, but the good news is that it does not have to be dull and monotonous.

The basics
Both, the air-conditioning and the professional air should be kept in mind while dressing up in the morning. “AC is one of the worst
factors to dehydrate your skin, so during office hours, make sure you wear a water-based moisturiser that keeps your skin hydrated. Also, to meet the professional environment, keep your makeup to a bare minimum. Smokey eyes and red lips are a big ‘no-no’,” says Stafford Braganza, head make up artist, Lancome India.

Use a concealer to cover up any blemishes and a skin primer to prepare your skin. “Those with oily skin should use a mattifying primer and the ones with dry skin should opt for the skin shine primer. But refrain from wearing a thick eyeliner and foundation to the office,” suggests beauty expert Samantha Kochhar.

Makeup tips
“After you even out your complexion, use a natural blush or a highlighter on the cheekbones and nude lipstick or gloss on the lips. Keep your eyes to a neutral eye shadow kohl pencil and top that with natural mascara,” says Braganza.

Use the bronzer over your blush for a slight shimmer and opt for a colour-stay smudge-free kajal for a longer lasting effect.
Kochhar says, “Use false half eyelashes and blend them in with your mascara. The soufflé stick and mineral foundation are other must-haves for your face in the morning. Use a subtle and bland palette and always maintain a balance.”

Office companions
1 Less is more for the office environment.
2 Never highlight both your eyes and lips at the same time.
3 Choose your best feature to highlight, and always use a minimum, natural and sophisticated makeup for it.
4 Lip gloss or lip balm work better than lipstick for office, and they’re important as lips are the most suggestive part of the face.
5 Skin wipes are important as they cleanse your skin each time you touch up your makeup.
6 Cream Soufflé meant for your cheeks can be applied on lips as well, over a coat of lip conditioner.
