Alia Bhatt and Sonali Bendre paired their summer coats with denims.

If you thought coats and blazers are only obliged to the honour in the cold winter months — think again! Close on the heels of the summer blazers trend, the summer overcoats in their sleeveless, distressed cotton and crepe avatars, are doing rounds on the fashion runways and celebrity red carpet events.

We spotted a bevy of Bollywood beauties jazzing up their casual style with breezy summer overcoats. Apart from being a fashionable addition to your wardrobe, these coats also double as nifty cover-ups when you’re rocking slinky camisoles.

Croppin’ it: A summer overcoat is an ideal accessory if you do not dare to bare and yet, wanna rock a cool crop top.

Instant jazz: Don’t want to head out in plain ol’ jeans and tees? Just throw on a studded or embroidered summer coat to instantly jazz up your look.

Dress it up: You can also tie the buttons on your overcoat to make it do double duty as a shirt dress.

Here’s some runway inspiration to rock summer overcoats. Button it up as a shirt dress as showcased by designer Adam Andrascik. You can also play with prints and style it with a crop top and skirt.

Take a cue from actors Alia Bhatt and Sonali Bendre to pair your summer coats with denims. While Alia opts for a stylish sleeveless number, Sonali goes chic in a rich silk printed coat.

Lived-in cotton fabric is ideal for summer season. While actor Shweta Salve rocks a cotton coat with boho chic accessories, television host Ramona Arena flaunts a desi take on the trend.
