Suit up ladies! It’s not just for men
Bollywood ladies have turned their tuxedo game a notch higher with cropped tops paired with dinner jackets, ditching classic black suit for creamy whites and acing the style across occasions.
What’s sexier than men in tuxedos? Ladies suited up, of course! Our Bollywood fashion-forwards are bending style rules by not only going the powersuit way for red-carpet events and promotions, but also doing it with a twist.
From pairing crisp suits with cropped tees and ditching classic black for white, to going for pop prints - the filmy bandwagon is up for experimentation.
Delhi-based designer Anand Bhushan says that the androgynous trend refuses to go out of fashion. “I love pant suits on women. My favourite is Athiya Shetty’s look. The very fact that the lace camisole is showing makes it look so lady-like, yet androgynous . The suit is very stylish, love the lapel detailing and the fitting,” he says. For designer Rina Dhaka, Katrina Kaif takes the cake.
“It’s Bianca Jagger (actor and former wife of Mick Jagger) who began the trend. It’s one of my favourite looks for a confident, sexy woman. Completely love it!” Designer Urvashi Kaur also gives a big thumbs up to the trend. “I absolutely love suits on women. It’s important to carry typically menswear details confidently, and I love the relaxed but structured vibe of tailored suits, especially as in Katrina’s look. These ladies going in an all-white direction is amazing, the subtle touch of black creates a chic look,” she says.

Even for designer Nikhil Mehra, Katrina’s suit takes the cake. “It’s the boyfriend suit that Katrina is wearing that is a winner for me. Gives off a pop David Bowie vibe!,” he says.
