Of all the autumn-winter trends showcased on the runways, boots have been attracting a lot of attention. From Calfskin Piper ankle boots at the Chloe winter runways to the faux fur boots that resembled mittens at the Chanel 2010 show, it seems boots have got a serious makeover.Even the lovers of utilitarian chic fashion had a choice — the runways showcased sturdy and snug boots with a Victorian influence — with high laces and a hint of velvet. Mc Queen’s last show earlier this year had him showcase boots with floral engraved heels, that looked more like installation pieces than footwear.
Presumably enough, the winter of 2010 is going to be big on boots. Some of the most stylish women in the city share with us their love for boots, the styles they choose and what they keep in mind every time they invest in a hot new pair of boots (which by their own admission is a little too often).
I am crazy about boots and I own all sort of pairs. When I spot a great pair, I can’t resist picking it up.
Shop from: I like buying boots from a brand called Alia in Europe — the leather is soft as silk and the heels are comfortable. I also have collected pairs from all over the world and own everything from ankle length to thigh-high ones. Boot tip: I like wearing high boots, I feel it immediately enhances your personality.
I love wearing boots that are textured and are a little different from the basic ones. Though comfort is my priority, I look for Victorian-inspired or meshed styles.
Shop from: Bottega Venetta, Prada and Gucci are my favourites.
Boot tip: Buy boots that are high and have an interesting element like a criss-cross corset style pattern. This way, you don’t need any other accesscorises and your boots can complete your look.
