There's hardly a girl on this earth who doesn’t enjoy shopping. From mall hopping to flea market trips or browsing various shopping sites, each one of us has our very own way to de-stress by shopping. Many women even claim that shopping helps them recharge and rejuvenate. Interestingly enough, psychologists say that the way one shops goes to say something about our personality, too.

"Many girls see shopping as a great stress-busting activity. For some, it is a way to feel empowered, and for many others, it is a way to pamper themselves. The way we shop, of course, depends on convenience, time and place, but if you find yourself hunting for flea markets on every out-station holiday, or can’t help but browse online shopping stores even during work hours, it does say a something about your personality," says Dr Shailja Jha, psychologist and lifestyle expert. We get four avid shoppers to share with us their unique shopping styles and what keeps them hooked to it, while the expert tells us what it reveals.

The label lover

Manasi Scott, Singer
I'm snooty and love buying high-end products, so label fashion suits me.
My shopping style- I love shopping for the best designer labels and New York is my shopping haven. In India, I like shopping at Emporio. Coco Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano. My style is flamboyant and loud.
Why I am hooked- I love to shop at these designer stores as I don't follow fashion blindly; I add a twist, and these brands present fashion in a distinct way.
What it says- Psychologist Rachna K Singh says, “It shows that the person loves the finer things in life, and wouldn’t settle for anything less than the best.”

The runway junkie

Navneet Randhawa, Socialite
I have a fetish for smart cuts, and ramp designs work for me.

My shopping style- I like watching the latest collections from designers like D &G, Armani and Prada, and ordering the best from their runway showcases. I love Sabyasachi’s outfits, too.
Why I am hooked- I am very particular about the cuts and silhouettes. It’s the fit that defines a style, and so, I think designer wear’s best.
What it says- Jha says, “The person wants to remain a league apart.”

Flea market freak

Nalanda Bhandari, Designer
A flea market is a fun mixed bag with a worldly appeal to it.

My shopping style- The flea markets in New York near Times Square, Soho and China Town are great. I love them because walking in the sunshine and buying trendy, reasonable stuff feels great.
Why I am hooked- From vintage stuff to creations by budding designers, you can often spot great bargains there.
What it says- Dr Singh says, “It says that the person is a lover of eclectic things and wants to explore uncharted territories in life.”

The online shopaholic

Mehar Bhasin, Grooming expert

Online shopping is comfortable, easy and fun. It’s also very simple

My shopping style- My sister is too much into online shopping, that's how I also got hooked to it. I like to mix and match and come up with something different. And, all this without any hassle.
Why I am hooked- I'm a smart buyer. I don’t want to buy impulsively and waste money on unnecessary things. I believe in investing in classic pieces and online shopping gives me that freedom.
What it says- Jha says, “It shows that the person wants to keep up with the times. It also suggests that the person loves the comfort of home.”
