Sweaty skin and oily T-zones can result in your foundation becoming cakey, your eyeliner giving you panda eyes, and mascara smudging away to glory. Add to that the sweltering heat, and if you’ve cooked up a recipe for disaster. However, there are a few tricks that can help you win the battle against the sun.
MOISTURISING IS A MUST
You may think it’s summer, so you don’t need a moisturiser. But, you’re wrong. If you want to keep excess oil away, moisturising your skin is a must — it’s the product you choose that makes all the difference. Go for a water-based variant if you are prone to oily skin, and a heavy-set, ultra-hydrating one, if your skin tends to get dry.
KEEP IT TINTED
Ditch the foundation and opt for lighter formulas instead. A tinted moisturiser with sun protection or a tinted sunscreen are light enough to make for the perfect base for your skin. And, if you already have a foundation that you don’t want to go to waste, just mix it with your sunscreen and apply the rest of your makeup over it.
MAKE BLOTTING PAPERS YOUR BEST FRIEND
Re-applying compact or pressed powder to deal with that shine isn’t a good ideal. Not only are you going to end up with your face looking cakey and blotchy, you will also block your pores and end up with a breakout. Instead, use blot papers to dab the sheen off of your face.
MIST IS A MUST HAVE
Nothing refreshes your face like a cooling mist. Rosewater, cucumber, and lavender – there are endless options to choose from. Make sure to pick one that has a fine spray-diffuser so that you don’t end up with makeup dripping down your face.
SET IT, DON’T SWEAT IT
When you’re done applying your makeup, don’t use a loose powder to set it, use a setting spray instead. A spritz or two will go a long away in keeping everything in place.
