From wildlife-inspired prints, Oriental accents to understated bling, the new year’s fashion awaits you. We put together five stylish looks for you that are in sync with the must-have trends of the season.

Animal instinct
This fall, don some wilderness. From faux fur coats (as seen on the model), feathers, and plumes, to wild animal prints such as leopard or python print, dare to wear wildlife-inspired fashion. This trend was seen across in international designer collections, such as Givenchy, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Topshop and Ungaro, along with lion and panther shapes at Ann Sui.

Understated bling
Understated glam and sparkle will this year’s fashion. The classic black sequin dress ruled the fashion red carpets last year, but this year go for understated copper, oxidised silver, bronze and suchlike metallic shades. For a fall look, team up your sequinned dress with knee-high boots and a trench coat. Remember the golden rule: When sporting a bling dress, keep accessories to the minimal.

Surreal cerulean
Cerulean or shades of blue is one of the prominent colours of 2012, which makes it an indispensable addition to your wardrobe. Dark and brighter shades of blue work well for the winters, while softer, pastel blue hues are for summers. The colour was seen on ramp collections of designers such as Vera Wang, Elie Saab, Alberta Ferretti and Proenza Schouler. For fall-winter, a monotone (blue on blue) look is best-suited.

Structured androgyny
Introduce some androgyny-inspired clothing in your wardrobe for the new year. But you must give your androgyny style a structured look with an Oriental Obi belt. Eastern-inspired Obi belts will be a huge accessory trend this year. Designers such as Carolina Herrera, Louis Vuitton, Paul & Joe and Gucci among others, used Obi belts to structure the androgynous creations in their clothing lines.

Flirty skirts
Let mini or short skirts rest in your closet for a while. Stock on mid-length skirts, which will be a trend to watch out for in 2012. You can experiment with different silhouettes in mid-length skirts, such as tulip skirt (worn by model), draped skirt, pencil skirt or wrap-around skirts, as seen on the runway collections of Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Rag & Bone and Just Cavalli. Team up mid-length skirts with bright halter tops, tucked-in tees, camisoles and sky-high heels.
