Wear this the next time!

During the red carpet season, what a star usually wears for the award functions, goes on to make or break her fashion image for many years to come. We advise some repeat fashion offenders on the looks that will work for them on the red carpet.

During the red carpet season, what a star usually wears for the award functions, goes on to make or break her fashion image for many years to come.

Perhaps that's why Aishwarya Rai is still remembered for the bad press she received during the 2003 Cannes Film Festival where she did atrocious red carpet looks. The images from the festival tainted her image so badly that since then been many conscious efforts have been made for the multi-brand endorser to have a winning look for each red carpet appearance.

KajolFrom custom-made dresses by Giorgio Armani to couture gowns from Ellie Saab - it is evident that Aishwarya has now got an army of experts to ensure the ghosts from her red carpet pasts are forgotten for good. But despite the herculean efforts, she still finds herself on the wrong end of fashion just like some of the other A-listers.

So this time round, just as the red carpet season is beginning to unfold and most stars are busy teaming up with their dedicated battery of stylists to ensure they look glamorous on the red carpet, we decide to dole out some fashion gyan for some of the repeat red carpet fashion offenders by giving them expert inputs and ideas and suggesting couture looks that will work best on them, keeping in mind their style, complexion and body type. Time for a style revamp, should we say?

Kajol's bling
Style mistake: Kajol was seen in heavy anarkali suits that seemed to be bought off the rack and not altered to fit her body at all.

How to correct it: Priyanka from High Heel confidential says, "We suggest a minimal couture gown by Ayesha Depala that will highlight her complexion and flatten the stomach with its intelligent draping on the front."

Sonam's ill-fitted suit
Style mistake: Sonam Kapoor faulted in her style by wearing an ill-fitted pantsuit, which seemed it had been borrowed from someone else.

How to correct it: She will look great in a fitted long gown, in an interesting colour like sea-blue. Prabal Gurung's party gowns will do a great justice to her body type.

Anushka's passe look
Style mistake: Anushka Sharma defied her petite body frame and wore a heavy lehnga-choli that made her look much older than her actual age and outdated as well.

How to correct it: Anushka has the perfect body to wear strapless gowns. Naeem Khan's billowy gown will look great on her and will add that edgy appeal.

Aish's velvet sin
Style mistake: Aishwarya wore a heavy sari on the red carpet. Mix and match of prints, and textures don't suit her and take away from her natural beauty.

How to correct it: Payal from fashion blog High Heel confidential says, "Aishwarya should stick to Indian wear but in a modern silhouette like this draped sari from Gaurav Gupta that's contemporary and away from sequins and velvet."
