As fashion week ends in Delhi, we discover that many in the Capital were clueless about it.
The curtains came down on the Wills lifestyle India Fashion Week Wednesday night, bringing an end to yet another fashion event in a country that hosts one almost every other month. But with newspapers and TV full of fashion week reports, does the common Delhiite even know what’s going on? That’s the question we asked 100 Delhi youngsters in the age group of 18-25 and got interesting insight.
Thanks to the media hype, an impressive 62% knew that ‘a fashion week is going on’ but interestingly, 58% of them did not know which season was being showcased. “Must be the winter collection, it’s just October,” said 23-year-old Nishtha Arora, who was surprised to know that it’s actually the Spring Summer 2011 collection. While many continued to call it ‘Lakme Fashion Week’ despite the same having moved to Mumbai years ago, majority drew a blank when it came to naming any three participating designers. 48% named designer Rohit Bal and were amused when told that he was not showcasing at the fashion week.
