This summer, slip into a form-flattering swimwear that is made to glam up your body type. Here is a guide as to which swimsuit will suit your body.

Pear-shaped:
Identify your body-type: In this shape, hips are wider than the shoulders and the bust. The waist is well defined and the shoulders are petite as compared to the rest of the structure. Such body types gain weight around the abdomen or the hips area.
Recommendation: Since the shoulders and waist are well toned, you need to move away the attention from the hips. Thus, choose swimsuits that have full shorts or an extra frill or skirts to hide wider hips. Fashion designer Anupama Dayal says, “Make sure to cover your lower half by tying a pareo at the hip bone, to conceal your imperfection.”
Trick: Go for silhouettes that slim down the lower body. So, scout for a two-piece bathing suit that has a short skirt to cover the abdomen.

Two piece swimsuit with high cut shorts diverts attention to waistline.
Price: Rs 1950
Available at: Trendy Diva, DLF Place Mall, Saket

Diagonal striped tankini suits a pear-shaped body.
Price: Rs 999(top) and Rs 899(bikini bottom).
Available at: Chemistry, DLF Place Mall, Saket

Hour-glass shaped:
Identify your body type: It is the most coveted female body shape. Hourglass women have a
balanced body structure where shoulders, and hips are of the same width with a well-defined and tiny waist. The body mostly gains weight on the arms, hips or on the sides of the waist.
Recommendation: All silhouettes of swimwear suit this shape. Whether, it’s a bikini, one-piece swimsuit, a bandini (bikini with a strapless, tube-shaped bandeau top) or a one-shoulder maillot; all flatter an hourglass figure. Designer Anupama Dayal says, “Make the most of yourhot body and feel free to wear one-piece costumes, happy prints or beautiful bright colours.”
The trick: Select according to your comfort level and a costume that makes you feel more confident.

Hourglass body types can flaunt a halter bikini with aplomb.

A bright one-piece will do complete justice to your shape.
Price: Rs 2395

Apple-shaped:
Identify your body-type
: The apple-shaped woman has a full bust, waist and upper back. They tend to hold weight around the shoulders, arms, chest or abdomen. The lower body is comparatively smaller while, the legs are generally the high point of such figures.
Recommendation: For such shapes, a one-piece swimsuit helps to camouflage the flabby areas. Upper body should be covered and the assets of your figure-legs be the highlight. So, select mid thigh, boy shorts style swimsuits. Swimsuit designer Narresh Kukreja of Shivan and Naresh says, “Focus on the assets of your body such as the legs or the necklines area. Experiment with swimsuits with interesting necklines, tankini or costumes with a high cut at the legs.”
Trick: Pick styles that make the upper body look slimmer — smaller prints and avoid large prints.
Opt for a pattern that cuts away the focus from the stomach area.
Price: Rs 11,990
Available at: Paul & Shark, Emporio Mall, Vasant Kunj

All conscious apple-shapes can go conservative with a short skirt tankini.
Price: Rs 999(top) and Rs 999(skirt)

Banana or tube-shaped:
Identify your body-type
: The athletic body shape has more advantages than disadvantages. In a tube shape, the shoulders, waist and the hips are of the same width and the figure is almost straight as there are no curves.
Recommendation: A tube shape woman is tall and has a long torso. If you have a skinny structure, then most of the styles in swimsuits will suit you. From maillots, bikini’s, tankinis, trikini (a bikini with cut-out sides and linked from the front), single-pieces to one-shoulder bathing suits; all look flattering on a toned body. For healthier tube shaped bodies, look for swimsuits that create an illusion of a curve. Fashion designer Arpan Vohra says, “Opt for diagonal patterns or stripes as they help create an illusion of a curve.”
The Trick: Opt for tankinis instead of bikinis or a one shoulder single-pieces swimsuit.

The cut-out in the centre of a swimsuit adds an illusionary curve.
