Bright mufflers, jazzy jackets, woollen shrugs and long boots... Delhi University seems to be gearing up to flaunt flashy winter wears this season. With winters just round the corner, HT City went around the campus and asked students about their style statement this season.
“It’s all about being stylish, yet comfortable. I like matching my cardigans with colourful mufflers and stoles,” says Megha of Hindu College. Aastha Sirohi of Kamla Nehru College says, “Brown and earthy colours go well in this season. Come winters and I plan to wear tights with tunic tops. I think it looks really jazzy.”
For girls, shorts skirts and hot pants will soon get replaced by jeans and leggings, while boys would be going for dark shade jeans over cargos and three-fourths.
“I like to wear something which keeps me warm and still makes me look trendy. I prefer wearing cardigans and sweatshirts over regular pullovers,” says Aman Sharma, another student from Hindu.
“Boots, I think, are going to be huge this season. But I just hope students don’t end up wearing shiny and glittery ones to college,” says Shivani of Kamla Nehru College.
While many want to lead the fashion brigade at their colleges, there are still some for whom comfort comes first, when it comes to attending college. Mansi Grover, a post graduation student of Literature, says, “I wear what I am comfortable in, I don’t really care much about what others wear.”
Kanika Chawla of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, too, swears by comfort. “I think hooded sweatshirts with jeans are very much in with youngsters,” she says.
