Zeenat Aman will walk the ramp today as the showstopper for designer Riyaz Gangji, at the ongoing Aamby Valley India Bridal Week. Says Gangji, “Zeenat Aman will walk in a lehanga and sherwani, for my royal bridal collection. It is inspired by Maharani Mohini Devi of Bijawar. Aman has made style statements, before in her films that are hard to forget. Even at this age, she remains the star that she was in her heydays.”
Aman had previously walked the ramp at Annu Ranjan’s charity show for the girl child, about six months back. She seems to be just as excited about the whole experience. “I started my career as a model in the mid 1960s. I used to walk the ramp before I became Miss Asia Pacific in 1970. Life has come a full circle for me, which is fun. It’s interesting; it feels like those days when I wasn’t even an actor,” Aman reminisces.
When asked if the show reminds of the fashion days back in the 70s, she says, “In the 70s when I walked the ramp it was different. There wasn’t the electronic media, which transmits news everywhere so instantly. No, but it just doesn’t feel like the 70s."
For every mother
“My outfit at the fashion show is something that every mother of the bride should wear,” she says. Zeenat Aman will be next seen in the forthcoming film Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon.
She’s non-committal on any future projects and says, “I just came across a script, which I liked, but I can’t comment on it unless the producers finalise it.”
