"Pray to God for my success. Now I can call you only when the pageant will be over." These were the words Puja Gupta, India’s representative at the Miss Universe contest, spoke to her mother on Monday evening, just hours before the grand finale.
“Main yahah aayee hoon to yahaa se kuch na kuch le kar hi lautungi,” Puja’s mother Savitri Gupta said while remembering her daughter’s conversation (If I have come this far, I am sure of taking back something or the other). “These words speak volumes about her confidence. This is the biggest asset that Puja has and I am sure her confidence will help her win the pageant."
Puja lost her father seven years ago and it was her mother who encouraged her to take part in the Miss India contest.
"Since childhood, she has been very keen to take part in beauty contests and I always motivated her for that. I have made her strong enough to take crucial decisions in life independently," Savitri Gupta added.
Puja also told her mother that she has made a couple of good friends and everyone is cooperating with her. But Puja is definitely missing ghar ka khana, for the anxious mother avers: "She is a vegetarian and most of the food items there are non-veg. She told me that she is somehow managing with whatever she is getting to eat."
Savitri Gupta has one son and three daughters, Puja is the youngest.
