Showing saris and lehengas for the first time: Amit Aggarwal

It’s my first show here and it’s going to be a blend of Indian and the couture line that I’ve been showing in Paris. It’s all in the style I’m known for — structuring, fluidity and dark colour.

Colour scheme

I’ve used lots of neutrals like black and grey as well as English jewel tones like emerald, wine, burgundy and midnight blue. Of course, my signature metallics are also there.

Fabrics

There’s a lot of lace and tulle. Besides that, I’ve used satin, georgette, velvette and transparent chiffon.

Silhouettes

I’ve tried to take away from the heaviness of the structures I’ve done earlier. So this time, you’ll see skirts that have shape and structure, but are still transparent and fluid.

What’s new

I’m showing saris and lehengas for the first time. They’ve tied in very well with my evening wear. There’s enough structure and drapes to make them fit to wear at formal occasions in India as well as abroad.
