The business end of the FIFA U-17 World Cup is upon us from Monday (October 16) with the knockouts, starting with the pre-quarterfinals (Round of 16). The action so far -- in the group stages -- have been exciting with some of the best young players in the world, the future superstars, displaying their skills, grit and fighting spirit, while scoring some memorable goals as well.

With the knockouts, things can only get better as the stakes are much higher. A slip up would mean an abrupt exit from the tournament. The pre-quarterfinals have some exciting match-ups on the cards right from Day 1. The Colombia vs Germany match -- which features a well-oiled European side and a South American side that has gotten better with every match this tournament -- should bring out some fireworks.

Iran, who shocked the Germans in the group stage, look like the team to beat in the knockouts. They won Group C and will take on Mexico, who finished third from Group F. While Iran is favourite in that match-up, the Mexicans have the firepower and an upset can’t be discounted.

Then there are the powerhouses -- Brazil and Spain, who came out of the ‘Group of Death’ (Group D) as the top two teams. The Brazilians have been sublime and look invincible. They take on Honduras (third in Group E but looked impressive against France and Japan) in Kochi on October 18, while Spain have a tough task against France, the Group E winners.
