What: Meating Joint Imbiss
where: 14, Ben O Lil Haven, Waroda Road, Bandra (West)
What’s on the menu: Meats
For once, we are glad for a hole-in-the-wall joint that’s tucked away in Bandra. That way, we won’t have to wait in queue for a table.
Hidden inside Waroda Road (which, as many don’t know, runs parallel to Chapel Road), Meating Joint Imbiss surpasses all expectations. To begin with, it’s clear in its catering — the entire menu is dedicated to meat lovers. For vegetarians, there are only two options — Garlic Bread (Rs 75) and Eggplant Schnitzel (Rs 130).
We called for the Beef Roast (Rs 180) — the price was a steal for what was delivered to our table — a fat, juicy, well-cooked slice of meat doused in sauce. However, a little more pepper would have been perfect. The second dish was the Kassler with slaw and mash (Rs 200) (smoked pork chop on the bone). The portion looked deceptively small, but halfway through the second chop, we knew better. The mash, served like a tikki, was fresh, as was the meat.
The most expensive dish on the menu is the Baby Back Square Ribs (Rs 385), while a takeaway item like the Pork Smokie Hotdog costs all of Rs 120. However, a few more options for beverages on the menu may help.
The city needed a place dedicated to good, well-cooked meat and this one serves that purpose. Definitely worth a visit.
