Manchester City grabbed the spotlight in the January transfer window as they announced the appointment of Pep Guardiola as the manager who will replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad next season.
On a day which is usually known for crazy player transfers, Pellegrini announced during his weekly press briefing that he will be stepping down from his post to facilitate Guardiola’s much anticipated arrival on June 30, 2016.
While the contents of the revelations were hardly surprising, given the deluge of speculation about Pellegrini’s position, the timing was surprising for almost all the football enthusiasts.
