Former German international goalkeeper Tim Wiese has joined the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) after accepting a personal invitation from company Chief Operating Officer (COO) Triple H on Tuesday.

According to, Wiese will be joining WWE’s Orlando, Florida Performance Center for what is being described as “an extended training period.”

The 34-year-old, who made six appearences for the German national team and made over 300 club appearances, retired from football in 2014 and has since been linked to the WWE after a guest appearance on the organisation’s 2014 European Tour.

The news of him joining WWE came almost one year after he completed a one-day workout at the Performance Center in July 2015.

“Tim is tenacious,” Triple H said in WWE’s announcement of the move on their official website.

“He continues to be very vocal in his desire to prove that he has what it takes, and he has shown tremendous resilience and determination to create an opportunity for himself.”
