19:15 hrs IST: Lajong win another corner after soaking some early pressure from Aizawl. They fail to make much out of it. It’s been a goof start to the game!

19:09 hrs IST: The match kicks off in Shillong. Lajong are on the attack straight away. The win a corner, but it is headed away by the Aizawl defence.

18:55 hrs IST: The teamsheets are out. Aizawl FC are missing the services of two key players, Ashtosh Mehta and Alfred Jaryan. Lajong, as has been the case throughout the season, are fielding a side full of U-22 players.

18:45 hrs IST: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Shillong Lajong vs Aizawl FC game. A controversial start to the day as Aizawl have expressed their displeasure over the appointment of match officials from Bengal. They had earlier written to AIFF for appointment of referees from neutral states in games involving them or Mohun Bagan.

Coached by Khalid Jamil, Aizawl FC have scripted a spectacular run in the I-League, garnering 36 points from 17 games to sit atop the standings, three points ahead of second-placed Mohun Bagan.

Ahead a stunning 1-0 win at home against Bagan, Aizawl will hope to avoid any hiccups in Shillong.

Aizawl will be missing the services of Alfred Jaryan and Ashutosh Mehta, two key players of their campaign, which will be cause of concern for Jamil.

Lajong, on the other hand, have only pride to play for in what is being termed as the ‘Northeast derby’.

The Thangboi Singto-coached side are assured of their highest ever finish in the I-League regardless of today’s result.

With 25 points from their 17 games, Lajong, boasting of the youngest squad in the league, will finish the season in fifth place.

However, coach Singto has warned Aizawl not to expect any favours from his side, while Lajong owner Larsing Ming has said his team is ‘desperate’ for three points from the match, saying today’s encounter ‘even eclipses the Kolkata derby’.
