I received free PC-cillian antivirus software with a motherboard. Is it legal?

Any software bundles that you receive with a legal purchase of a hardware, are legally yours. You must take the trouble of installing the software and registering it automatically from its website, and in the case of antivirus software, you are licensed to download upgrades, patches, and the latest antivirus definitions according to the end user license agreement. If you don't wish to use the software, you must formally return it to the software company without installation and clarify the terms of refund. You must also verify if the software company allows you to transfer the software to someone else before you think of re-selling or giving it away.
