Microsoft plans to launch Skype for Windows Phone

Microsoft had demonstrated the Skype app at MIX 2011 and it seems the company is now set to launch the VoIP application any time soon for Windows Phone.

Rick Osterloh, VP of products, Skype said that Microsoft's Skype division is "working on a Windows Phone product that will be coming out soon," at CES 2012.

Microsoft had recently acquired Skype and had tied up with Facebook to provide video chat on the latter's instant messenger network. While there has been no word from

Facebook on the popularity of the video chat service, Skype is surely extremely popular, especially with the mobile operating systems like Android and iOS.
