For golfers who want to obsess over your swing, a new Bluetooth device pairs with a free app to pinpoint flaws in your technique.
On April 19, Mobiplex launched its SwingTIP transmitter plus ProView App, a device and app combo that captures video of your swing with loads of geeky bonuses such as 3D swing analysis and plane and club head impact metrics. By attaching the tiny device to the club shaft, golfers can record, review, and share their swing clips with a friend or coach -- and the app itself offers tips on how to improve your swing mechanics and body movement.
The SwingTIP Wireless Golf Swing device retails for $130. The 3D motion sensor is paired with a free app available for Apple iOS 6.0 and greater and is coming soon to Android 2.3.5+ devices. The iOS app supports AirPlay to Apple TV for display.
Another similar device, Rokform Golf Shooter, lets you mount your iPhone to capture your swing for analyzing your techinque. The set includes a protective iPhone 4/4S Case, an aluminum mount, a golf shooter shaft, and a soft cover, for a price of $129.
Nike+ has also stepped onto the links with a new app designed to help golfers polish their skills. The Nike Golf 360º app lets users track their rounds, fine-tune their swings, and share their stats with friends.
