The French premium audio specialist has introduced the Devialet Phantom, a multi-room wi-fi speaker system offering crystal clear sound and impressive power (from 750 to 3,000W).
With its latest wireless multi-room speaker system, Devialet promises high-fidelity sound and power of up to 3,000W, all without the slightest distortion or muffling. Underneath its futuristic design, the Phantom houses all the advanced technologies developed by Devialet to produce the clearest sound possible, including the Analogical Digital Hybrid (ADH) amplification system. Bass reproduction is ensured by the Heart Bass Implosion (HBI) technology and can actually be seen in the slight movement of the speaker's side wings under the pressure of the sound.
Music -- which is beamed to the Phantom either by wi-fii or power-line communication, but not by Bluetooth -- is projected evenly in all directions, guaranteeing equal sound quality regardless of where the listener stands. Devialet touts the "unparalleled quality" of the Phantom, which is positioned as a rival to similar audio solutions from Sonos and Bose.
The basic Phantom system, with 750W and up to 99db, costs €1,690 (around $2,100), while the high-end Silver Phantom -- with 3000W and 105db -- sells for €1,990 (around $2,500). Though the price point may seem high, the product actually targets ordinary consumers rather than die-hard audiophiles, who are sometimes willing to pay upwards of $20,000 for sophisticated multi-room sound systems.
The Phantom and Silver Phantom are available for pre-order now at the manufacturer's website, with shipments expected to begin in January 2015.
