Rumours of the alleged 4-inch iPhone have been coming thick and fast. The new iPhone will likely be called iPhone 5se. A report by 9to5Mac claims that the rumoured compact iPhone is expected to get the latest M9 and A9 chips instead of the A8 as reported earlier.
The reports further adds that the launch of the iPhone 5se and iPhone 7 will see the end of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. This implies that the iPhone lineup this fall will likely include the compact iPhone 5se, iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, along with the next gen-iPhones which will likely be dubbed as iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
The report also claims that the iPhone 5se will pack more storage compared to the 5s. While it’ll ship with the standard 16GB of storage, users will also get the 64GB option. The iPhone 5s launched in 2013 will also be discontinued when the new iPhone 5se arrives, claims 9to5Mac. The Cupertino giant will reportedly announce the device around mid-March.
The launch of a smaller iPhone would certainly give Apple a much needed boost in countries like India and China, where most of the current generation iPhones seem highly overpriced.
