Samsung has tied up with Alex Springer, a publisher of European newspapers including Die Welt, Bild and Fakt, to develop a news platform called 'UPDAY', reports Engadget.
It's not yet clear if Springer will be producing any exclusive content for this app. Right now, it's being pitched as an "aggregated content platform", with stories selected both by algorithms and real human editors.
The app, which will land in the Google Play Store later this week, will initially only be available in Germany and Poland before being widely available throughout Europe in the months to come.
There is no word yet on whether Samsung will make it available globally or whether it will tie up with more publishers around the world, but considering that its arch rival Apple is bringing an Apple News app with iOS 9, its latest operating system that will release next week, it just might.
