Many things were expected from Samsung at their Galaxy Unpacked event for 2015. Although they released the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5, they also had a small surprise in store for everyone. They also teased their new circular Smart Watch – The Samsung Gear S2, which is set to be released in September. Let’s have a look at what makes this smart watch different than the others on the market:
The Gear 2 would feature a circular dial, as seen in the Moto 360, the LG Watch and many others – something which seems to be a change in trend over the past couple of months. The interesting point here is that the user interface seen at the event was different than the Android Wear, hinting that Samsung might go back to their Tizen OS, which could make a big difference in their sales.
According to Droid-Life, the watch seems to be currently compatible only with Samsung products. If we look at what we might get in the Gear S2, let’s recap what the Gear S had – It featured a super curved display with a resolution of 360x480 pixels, Wifi connectivity, pedestrian navigation and a GPS. It runs on a dual-core 1 GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB in-built storage and a 300mAh battery. Samsung will be revealing more information about the Gear S2 in their pre-IFA event on the 3rd of September in Berlin. Considering the package you get with the Gear S, the Gear S2 should come with specifications that might make it a very strong smart watch and not just a gimmicky toy on your wrist.
