26-year-old driver of BJYM leader shot in Gurgaon

The driver (26) of a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) functionary who is also in-charge of Himachal Pradesh was shot dead near a private hospital in Manesar on Saturday while he was returning from Gurgaon after dropping some visitors at the Metro station.

A passerby spotted the deceased, Monu Kumar, lying in a pool of blood in the driver’s seat in the Toyota Innova car outside the private hospital and subsequently informed the police.

The driver was identified as a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and had been working with the BJYM member Mahesh Chauhan’s family in Manesar for about a year.

According to the police, Kumar had gone to drop some guests in the car (HR 26BE 747). He had left Manesar at 2.30pm and while on way he had received a call.

Inspector Jagdish Prasad, SHO Manesar said, “He had received a call around 4pm from his family and had informed he was at IMT Manesar crossing and after 15 minutes he was shot dead. The body was found in a pool of blood in the car, he was sitting at the wheels.”

Police have registered a case of murder against unknown people and are conducting detailed investigation.

“There are no signs of firing on the spot nor has anyone come forward so far claiming they heard the gun shot. We are trying to record the statements of the security guard and drivers outside Rockland Hospital,” said Prasad.
