The city crime investigation agency (CIA) raided a night club on Sohna Road in the early hours of Thursday and arrested 30 persons, including six women, for their alleged involvement in gambling and prostitution.

All the accused were arrested from the Omaxe Celebrations Mall and produced in a local court on Thursday. They were sent to 14-days’ judicial custody.

“The owner of the club, Preetam, could not be arrested,” the police said.

The CIA team, led by inspector Yashwant Singh, acted on a tip off regarding gambling and a prostitution racket at RDX pub and bar. The police team also seized more than R6 lakh, which was at stake at the time of the raid, along with a high-tech gambling machine that determines the winning card.

The CIA team also detained the club staff, including the bouncers, for inquiry. They were released later. Before the arrest, the police also questioned the 30 accused for more than an hour in the mall.

On the complaint of inspector Sharma, an FIR was registered at the Sadar police station under the Gambling Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Inspector Rajender Singh has been deputed as the investigating officer in the case.

According to a police source, those arrested were not found to be under the influence of alcohol despite being arrested from a night club. All the girls held belong to Delhi and were brought to the club by a Delhi resident, Nitin. Of all the men arrested for gambling, 16 belong to Delhi, five are from UP, and one person is from Gurgaon, a police official said.
