About 70 village heads from around Manesar will meet on Monday to express solidarity with the management of the Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Limited.
The Mahapanchayat will offer its support to the Maruti Suzuki management and have invited the MSI officials to the meeting. It was announced at a meeting of Sarpanches which was held in the Dhana village. A few Sarpanches also went to Manesar plant to meet the company management and invited them to attend the Mahapanchayat.
Some of the Sarpanches also approached the Joint commissioner of Police Anil Rao to seek permission to conduct the Mahapanchayat at the gates of Manesar plant. But they were denied the permission due to law and order considerations. After that the venue was shifted to Dhana, near Manesar.
Dr. Dharmender Yadav, the member of block committee, who led the Saturday's meet said: "We decided that no activity that would lead to workers unrest in the area would be allowed or promoted. We would oppose red-flag unions in the IMT Manesar area where these have caused industrial unrest earlier too. We want to help the management for the revival of the plant."
Sarpanch of Manesar village Dharamvir Yadav said, "The reputation of our area is at stake. We don't want the innocent or the industry to suffer at the hands of some anti-social elements which are spreading violence at the plant."
He added that it is not just a matter of industrial unrest. “The survival of so many families depend on the facility. We cannot afford a lock out.”
