The city traffic police on Tuesday updated the list of pending traffic-related problems in the city from 78 to 94. The problems vary from narrow road width to water-logging to broken sewer lines.
While 29 such problems were resolved by the civic agencies recently, 45 new problems had been identified, taking the current number of such problems to 94. Out of the 29 problems resolved, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) together completed 25 pending works recently.
Till April-end, Huda had completed 14 and MCG had completed 11 pending works. While Huda, MCG and the Public Works Department (PWD) together completed one project, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC) finished just one pending work.
“After our repeated efforts to raise the pending traffic-related work issue with the civic agencies, finally we are getting a positive response,” said DCP (traffic) Bharti Arora.
Till last year, the traffic police had been blaming Huda, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), HSIIDC and other departments for traffic snarls. “We had written several letters to these departments but the problems persisted. However, the way Huda and the MCG have been working, we hope the situation will get better in the future,” said Arora.
“The entry and exit points on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway should be widened as the volume of traffic is increasing and the present width of these points often leads to traffic congestion,” said a traffic officer.
“Due to sewage problem, there’s water-logging on both sides of the service roads at Hero Honda Chowk and even on the main road,” the officer added.
While Huda is working to resolve 29 traffic problems, MCG, NHAI, HSIIDC and DS Constructions have to look into 27, 5, 8 and 4 such problems respectively.
