Manish, a Naharpur Rupa resident, was one of those accused of murdering rival gangster Jony Hans’ mother in March 2017.

Day after the crime investigation agency (CIA) of city police arrested two members of Kaushal gang, including a most-wanted gangster, after a shootout on Dwarka Expressway, police on Saturday rounded up the brother of the gang’s kingpin.

Officers privy to the matter said that Kaushal’s brother, identified by his first name, Manish alias Pappu, was rounded up in the evening by a CIA team after raids in Pataudi, Rajendra Park and nearby villages.

Sumit Kuhar, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Crime, said Manish, a Naharpur Rupa resident, was allegedly one of the accused in the murder of the mother of Jony Hans, a rival gang member, in March 2017.

“We are conducting raids to arrest other gang members and are also interrogating Dagar and Lath, who were arrested on Friday, to locate hideouts of others,” Kuhar said.

An officer from the CIA, requesting anonymity, said Manish was involved in the conspiracy to target Joni Hans’s family, as he had defected to a rival gang.

On Friday, a crime team from Sector 10 had arrested Amit Dagar, believed to be operational head of Kaushal gang and an aide, Anil Lath. The duo were arrested after a shootout near Dhanwapur Chowk on Dwarka Expressway, in which Dagar sustained a bullet wound in his right knee.

Dagar is an accused in eight murder cases after he came out on parole in 2016, and is also wanted in cases of extortion and contract killing, police had said.

One pistol of foreign make, a countrymade pistol, three live cartridges and an i20 car were recovered from the accused.

Police said they had received two complaints recently, from a businessman and a former sarpanch of Naharpur Rupa village, who alleged that they had received threat calls on WhatsApp from a gangster, identifying himself as Kaushal.
