More than 10 students of Amity University were booked by the Manesar police for damaging the university property and threatening the staff during a protest on Tuesday.
The arrested students have been identified as Rajhans, Aakash, Vikrant Pandey, Pankaj Yadav, Kartik, Abhinav, Sahib Singh, Nitesh Tiwari, Tarun Kumar and Deepak.
Hundreds of students, who had failed in various first and second year courses, broke open the main gates of the university and stopped the staff and other students from entering the campus.
The police claimed that the failed students had been protesting for a week. Some members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and students from other institutions too had joined the protest and locked the main gate.
The university management called the police to control the situation. Additional force were also deployed to ensure security around the campus.
The situation is now stated to be peaceful and under control. Inspector Narender Sangwan (SHO) Manesar said, "We are investigating the matter. The accused not only damaged university property but also involved outsiders in the protest."
