In yet another shooting incident in the city, a 30-year-old tailor was shot at in Jharsa village on Tuesday night.
According to the police, the assailants were allegedly targeting a property dealer and accidentally shot the victim in the chest. According to the doctors, the victim is out of danger.
A case has been registered at the Sadar police station against two unidentified men for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act.
According to the police, Madan Lal Sharma, a resident of Jharsa, was talking to one Manbeer Singh, a property dealer. Police said Manbeer has been named in several cases of fraud, property dispute and assault and was a member of the Mahesh Attack gang.
Around 11pm, two men on a motorcycle stopped and shot at Manbeer but the bullet hit Sharma. The assailants fled the spot immediately.
The victim was rushed to a private hospital and he is reported to be out of danger. The police have recorded his statement. Sharma said he did not know the accused who fired at him. He also said he did not have any enemies, the police said.
DCP (East) Deepak Saharan said, “No one could note down the number of the motorbike since it was dark. The assailants had a personal enmity with Manbeer, who has been involved in several cases of assault. He is also involved in property dispute cases.”
