The police on Wednesday exhumed the body of an eight-year-old girl who was allegedly killed and buried by her mother’s lover in Sohna, 25 km from Gurgaon.
The police also arrested the accused and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The police suspect that the girl was sexually assaulted.
According to the police, the girl’s father lodged a missing complaint on Sunday after which two men with whom the girl’s mother had an affair were detained for questioning. The woman is reportedly separated from her husband and is living with the two men, the police said.
Interrogation of the accused revealed that the girl’s mother was living with him while her two daughters were staying with the other lover.
The mother and daughters had gone to her parent’s house in Delhi on June 5 and, on returning on July 19, she started living with her lover in Jakhopur village.
The accused came to know of this and brought the woman with him to his rented accommodation in Harinagar. On August 6, the mother insisted on bringing her daughters there and the accused went to fetch them.
He returned alone, the police said. On inquiring, the accused feigned ignorance. The mother approached her estranged husband who lodged a police complaint.
Sukhbir Singh, ACP, Sohna, said the accused was detained and during questioning, he confessed to the crime. The body was then exhumed. Singh said sexual assault can be confirmed only after the autopsy. The accused, initially booked in an abduction case is now charged with murder.
