An 11-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited Gurgaon on Thursday to formally kick-start investigation into the Geetanjali murder case.

The team recorded video footage of the crime scene.

“A team of the CBI came to Gurgaon today. The members met me and the head of our special investigation team, ACP Ashok Bakshi. They visited the scene of crime in Civil Lines,” said police commissioner Alok Mittal.

Sources said the team was led by deputy inspector general Vineeta Thakur.

The CBI has based its probe on the primary FIR registered by the Gurgaon police. It is also learnt that the viscera report of the victim has finally come, but the ballistics report is still awaited.

The family members of the victim had asked for a CBI probe into the case.
