A summer internship programme of Gurgaon police was declared open by police commissioner Alok Mittal on Friday. Nineteen of the 22 students who had enrolled for the internship attended the inaugural meeting.
A brainchild of Mittal, the programme aims to train engineering and management graduates and post-graduates.
“This is going to be a healthy exchange between the police and the young brains of India who are abreast of the latest developments in the field of IT,” said Mittal.
Students, who are part of the 6-8 weeks’ programme, have come from prestigious institutions such as IIT-Allahabad, IIT-Delhi and BITS-Pilani.
Interns with a background in computer science will be trained in cyber crime, net banking fraud, cyber forensics, Facebook issues, lottery fraud etc.
Pankhuri Kumar, ACP (Gurgaon), said, “The initiative has been taken to harness the potential of the young generation.”
