The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Saturday removed illegal hoardings from as much as 35,000 square feet of area near Ambience Mall.

The hoardings were erected by various companies and builders along major roads near the mall. They were not paying the fee to MCG for putting up the hoardings.

"Such hoardings and advertisement boards erected along the roads are very harmful for commuters as they are very distracting. Sometimes, they may even lead to fatal accidents. The MCG has started a drive to remove them. We will also take action against the guilty companies" said a senior MCG official.

”We have constituted five teams under the direction of MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal to remove the illegal hoardings, advertisement boards and billboards" said Sanjay Chugh, PRO, MCG.

Earlier on June 2, the civic body MCG removed 50 small hoardings and 600 big hoardings from Sohna road, Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) road, Rajeev Chowk, Golf Extension Road, Pataudi Road, Railway Road, Jharsa Road and DLF City.

It also removed the hoardings from city malls, shopping complexes and the posh Sushant Lok area of the city.
