A school bus driver was arrested on Wednesday after he ran over a student, a police official said.
Akshay Kumar, 7, a student of Class 2, died after coming under the front wheel of the bus.
He died on the spot, said a police official. He was the only child of his parents. The bus was carrying nearly 50 children to school on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place on the campus of MD Senior Secondary School Khod in Pataudi sub-division, 25 km from here.
"The driver has been booked under sections 279 and 304 A," ACP (Pataudi) Bir Singh said.
The accused has been identified as Bhim Singh of village Khod. Police arrested him after he surrendered.
District education officer Manoj Kaushik said a separate inquiry was being conducted by the education department and action would be taken against the school authorities, if found guilty.
Shri Bhagwan, school chairman, said the driver had joined work just two days ago.
